Getting involved more seriously!

The West End Twilight Markets is privately owned. This was a conscious decision to operate as a fully fledged business in the real economy that faces us today. Moreover, if WETM can be a successful, sustainable concept, then we are paving the way for other people to begin economic ventures that endevour to support themselves rather than rest in the shadows of too much support. We also didn't want the quality of what we were offering to be determined by anyone other than those who we love to work with. So what is this all about then? The following is an open letter to businesses to begin a Trade Revolution, lets swap ideas, swap monentum and and help each other out with what we can offer ourselves, and therefore to the community at large.

Dear still excited by life

WETM offers a chance for you share a product or idea you might have with like-minded people who care about forming sustainable, engaging and creative partnerships with the community.

When somebody asks me who our "target market" is (yuck), the truth is that our followers are 'conscious buyers'. This is people who care about: where the product was made, what it was made of, why it was made, who it was made for, why it costs the price it does, where it came from, and how they can dispose of it thoughtfully at the end of the day. These people spread across a growing online and local communities, eager to have something that is not mass-produced, took time to curate, and might only be available for a short time.

We are interested in businesses that are creative and have a love for dynamic interactions and the unique. We can talk about displaying your product, or we can really get to know each other and collaborate in an inventive way that supports the community and our place in it. My challenge to you is: we want thinkers who see the 'big picture' and want to help develop experiences. What can we give you and what can we give each other?

We have all the regular things – Yep, Facebook and Twitter and they are undoubtedly one of our best ways to touch base with our followers but is there another way we can support each other? Can you do something we can't and do you reach people that we don't? If we collect lightbulbs, will you make them into an installation? Get me?

Send us an email and we can catch up, have a coffee, write a song together, and who knows, create something wonderful that will aid not only our own business, but society and culture itself.
